BYD Company Limited was founded in Shenzhen in February 1995 as Shenzhen BYD Battery Company Limited. Batteries remain one of its four businesses beside new energy vehicles, handset components and assembly, and photovoltaics. The group employed about 869,600 people at the end of 2025 and lists its shares in both Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The Battery-Box Premium HVS and HVM come into Australia through Alps Power Pty Ltd of Riverwood NSW, which has held an Australian business number since January 2016 and handles warranty claims as BYD's authorised service partner. The warranty on those towers is given by Shenzhen BYD Electronics Co., Ltd. Both are high-voltage towers of lithium iron phosphate modules, 2.56 kWh in the HVS and 2.76 kWh in the HVM, and their inverter always comes from another maker. Since April 2026 the Clean Energy Council's list has also carried a BYD inverter for solar and batteries, the Power-Box SH. It is not on BYD's compatible inverter list for the HVS and HVM. The current HVM and HVS listings on the council's approved list date from June and October 2023. On its de-listings register BYD appears once, for solar panels removed in September 2024 because no importer was active for them, and none of its batteries appears there. Worldwide, BYD's energy storage systems have gone into more than 650 large-scale projects in over 110 countries and regions.
