Cookie policy

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit our website. We keep the list short: WattMate only sets cookies needed to keep you signed in, keep forms secure, and carry your in-progress calculator or quote details between pages.

We run Google Analytics, but only after you accept it on the cookie banner — if you decline, or haven’t chosen yet, the Google Analytics script is never loaded and no _ga cookie is set. We do not run advertising pixels or marketing cookies of our own on WattMate. See “Site analytics” below for the cookieless tools we use as well.

WattMate measures traffic with Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights. Both are cookieless — they don’t set a persistent identifier on your device and don’t track you across other sites.

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity are different: they do set cookies, so they are opt-in. Your choice on the cookie banner controls it. That choice is not itself a cookie: it is remembered in your browser's local storage under wattmate_cookie_consent, so clearing this site's cookies will not reset it. To change your mind, clear this site's stored site data from your browser's site settings, and the banner will ask again.

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site: it records sessions (session replay) and builds heatmaps of where people click and scroll. It loads only after you accept on the cookie banner. If you decline, or haven’t chosen yet, it never runs and sets none of its cookies.

Clarity records how pages are used (session replay and heatmaps); what you type is always masked, but other on-screen text can be recorded. Microsoft receives this data outside Australia as an independent controller and may use it for its own purposes, including advertising profiles, and may set cookies it recognises on its other sites (see the Microsoft privacy statement).

To withdraw your consent, clear this site's stored site data in your browser's site settings. Clarity then stops loading, and the banner asks again.
