Alpha ESS builds home batteries together with their inverters. It sells them in Australia through Alpha ESS Australia Pty Ltd, the Sydney company named as the warranty provider, which registered for an Australian Business Number in March 2015. Alpha ESS says it was established in Nantong in China in 2012, and the maker named on the warranty is still based there. Its current ranges are the SMILE-M and the SMILE-G3. The SMILE-M is built from 5 kWh and 13.99 kWh lithium iron phosphate modules under a 5 kW to 10 kW inverter. The SMILE-G3 stacks 9.3 kWh modules into a tower under single-phase or three-phase hybrids. Each range includes a battery inverter, a unit that runs only the battery, so a home can keep the solar inverter it already has. The Clean Energy Council approved the current modules between June and November 2025, and earlier SMILE lines stay on its lists. The warranty terms dated 1 July 2026 give 10 years on the modules and promise at least 70% of usable capacity until that term or the module's energy limit ends, on condition that the system stays connected to the internet. The inverters also carry 10 years, under those terms or under their own warranty documents and datasheets. Synergy's Supported Solutions List dated 1 October 2026 carried every current SMILE-M and SMILE-G3 inverter, so a SMILE battery on one of them pairs with an inverter on Synergy's list, and other scheme conditions apply.
